U15 | Les avaries i el manteniment de la bicicleta

Per tenir la bicicleta sempre a punt de fer servir de manera eficaç, còmoda i segura és fonamental mantenir-ne els elements mecànics i l’estructura en les condicions adequades. De tota manera, cal tenir en compte que no totes les reparacions les pot fer el mateix usuari, sinó que en alguns casos cal que hi intervingui un mecànic.

Un manteniment rutinari ha de consistir en lubrificar periòdicament les zones més fràgils - cables, cadena, rodaments, plats, pinyons, etc.-; controlar la pressió dels pneumàtics per a evitar les punxades i revisar el sistema de frens.

Encara que la bicicleta és un giny senzill des del punt de vista tecnològic, la part mecànica té riscos d’avaria com qualsevol altre vehicle. Les avaries més comunes solen afectar les rodes, la direcció, els frens, el manillar i els pedals. Per això, és recomanable dur sempre damunt algunes eines bàsiques per a reparar-les: claus múltiples, bomba d'aire, cable de fre, cambra de recanvi i equip de reparació de punxades.

Recomanacions per mantenir la bici en bon estat

Rodes
Comprovar que estan ben subjectes i que poden girar lliurement sense fregar el quadre, els parafangs o els frens. Els pneumàtics han d’estar ben inflats a la pressió adequada. Substituir-los si s’observen esquerdes o talls. Comprovar l’estat de les llandes.

Frens
Comprovar que funcionen eficaçment. Canviar els cables si s’observa algun fil trencat i els patins de fre si estan desgastats. Comprovar que la posició de les manetes de fre permet accionar-les amb facilitat.

Llums i timbre
El Reglament general de circulació obliga que les bicicletes duguin timbre i, si circulen de nit, llum. Comprovar que ambdós funcionen correctament i que els reflectors i els llums estan nets.
