U13 | La mecànica de la bicicleta i el seu moviment
La bicicleta és, des d'un punt de vista tecnològic i mecànic, un artefacte relativament simple. Es tracta, bàsicament, d'un vehicle de dues rodes dotat de pedals que, en fer-los girar, transmeten el seu moviment a una de les rodes de què disposa. Es tracta d'una màquina composta que és el resultat de la combinació d'altres màquines més senzilles com les rodes dentades, les palanques, els plats, els pinyons, els canvis de marxa, etc.
El ciclista va assegut en un seient petit acoblat a l'estructura que suporta tots els elements mecànics, i es desplaça pel seu propi esforç i sense necessitat de cap motor. No obstant això, algunes bicicletes duen incorporat un senzill motor elèctric per a complementar l’energia humana en els casos en què una part del recorregut requereix més esforç o en què el ciclista té una edat o una condició física que no li permet aplicar tota la força que cal.
Aquesta senzillesa és el gran avantatge de la bicicleta enfront d'altres mitjans de transport. Sobretot pel fet que comprar-la, fer-la servir i mantenir-la en bon estat representen un cost econòmic molt baix en comparació amb el dels vehicles a motor quan se n’és propietari.
Per a optimitzar els desplaçaments amb bicicleta, i també evitar possibles lesions, és fonamental que el ciclista adopti una posició correcta sobre el vehicle. L'altura del seient, la inclinació del cos, la posició de les mans sobre el manillar són qüestions que l'usuari ha de tenir en compte per convertir la bicicleta en un aliat en la seva mobilitat quotidiana.
Es tracta d'una màquina composta que és el resultat de la combinació d'altres màquines més senzilles com les rodes dentades, les palanques, els plats, els pinyons, els canvis de marxa, etc.
